John Raymond Nicum, age 65, died on Friday, November 15, 2013, at his home in Beacon Hill, Boston, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Braunfels, Germany on August 17, 1948, the loving son of Anna J. and John Raymond Nicum. He was educated in Weymouth and graduated Weymouth High School. He entered the U.S. Army following his high school education and bravely served in Vietnam for 6 years. John enjoyed his daily newspaper, books, movies, and was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan. John loved his adopted country and he served it, God, his family and friends, proudly until the end. He was a caring, gentle and loving man who gave of himself freely and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
John is survived by his two sisters; Karen Nicum of Weymouth, Christina Allsopp of Brockton; three brothers, Joe Nicum and Mike Nicum both of Weymouth, Scott and his wife Cheryl Nicum of Derry, NH. He is also survived by loving niece and nephews.
Burial will be private at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
