Richard L. Cole, age 69, of Plymouth, formerly of Kingston, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at the South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late George & Rita (Cowhig) Cole. Richard grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Boston College High School, Class of 1962. He was a veteran in the U.S. AirForce for four years, during the Vietnam Conflict. For 41 years, Richard was a District Manager for Verizon Communications. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 4480 in Kingston and was a member of the Verizon Pioneers. Richard and his wife Pat were accomplished ballroom dancers. They travelled extensively to 26 countries throughout the world. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Richard was the beloved husband of Patricia (Garrity) Cole for 48 years; devoted father of Janine M. Wilkins & her husband Scott of Norfolk, Cheryl A. Chapman & her husband Mark of Kingston and Richard M. Cole & his wife Melanie of Weymouth; loving grandfather of Cameron, Matthew, Caroline, Joshua, Ann, Alex and Dylan; dear brother of the late Maxine Nephew. Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Monday, November 4, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston, on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 9:00 AM, followed by his funeral Mass at Saint Peter's Church, 86 Court Street, Plymouth, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
