Robert R. Curtin, of Pembroke, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of the late Wanda (Schneider) Curtin; loving father of Jane (Jensen) Acheson of Pembroke, William Curtin of Weymouth and Robert Curtin, Jr. of Indian Head, MD. He is also survived by his brother, George (Curt) Curtin & his wife Dee O'Connor of Worcester and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. Robert worked for 26 years as an orderly at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury. He also worked at the Stop & Shop for many years in Pembroke after retiring from the federal government. Robert enjoyed listening to his old transistor radio, working around wood, watching the history channel and was and avid Bruins fan. He loved his Irish ancestry and going to The Trolley Museum in Maine. Spending time with his family was very important to him. Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street, (Route 14), Pembroke, on Monday, September 9, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 PM. His funeral Mass will be held at Saint Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan Street, Hanson, on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mattakeesett Street, Pembroke. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert Curtin may be made to the Pembroke Council on Aging, Attention: Gift Fund, 144 Center Street, Pembroke, MA 02359.
