Obituary of Steven J. Deschenes

Steven J. Deschenes, of Pembroke, passed away on June 13 at the age of 47 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Son of Pauline Deschenes and the late Joseph Deschenes of Pembroke, Steve was a certified arborist and graduate of Stockbridge College. He loved trees and the beauty of wood. He is survived by two sisters, Alison Deschenes and her boyfriend Gary Hermenau, and Karen Mangone and her husband Lawrence Mangone, pastor of the Radiant Christian Church in Warren, RI. Steve is also survived by three nieces, Jaclyn Deschenes, Rachel Mangone , Sarah Mangone and nephew Michael Deschenes , cousin Kurt Paulsen, two uncles, Rev. Harold Paulsen of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine Texas, Paul Paulsen, and his best friend Thomas Kelly. Steve was loved dearly by all for his kindness, humor, generosity, determination and the example he set on how to handle the adversities of disease. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 16 at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St.,Rt. 14, Pembroke Center from 4-8PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday June 17 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson at 10:30AM. Burial in Center Cemetery, Pembroke.
