Obituary of Mary L. Shirley

Mary L. (Lloyd) Shirley, of Duxbury, passed away Jan. 20 at the age of 91. She was the wife of the late Charles F. Shirley II. Mary, the daughter of the late Charles and Nella Lloyd, was born and raised in Meredith, NH. After graduating from high school, she earned a BS degree from Nasson College in Maine, then taught in Norwell and Hanover Mass. high schools from 1944- 1948. In 1947 she married Monty of Duxbury, the son of Dr. J. Newton and Clara Shirley, After having children, she taught in the Duxbury elementary schools from 1960 to 1983. She was a member of the First Parish Church of Duxbury; the American Legion Auxiliary; Duxbury Senior Citizens Club; and the former Duxbury Volunteer Firefighters Auxiliary. She leaves three daughters, Elizabeth Green, Pamela Mulloy, and Victoria Eccleston; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1:30pm.
