Obituary of Leo Edward Begin

Leo Edward Begin, of Plymouth and formerly of Duxbury, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Newfield House, Plymouth. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlene Francis (Bourne) Begin, his four children, and two grandchildren: Rosanna (Begin) Buhl and her husband Richard, Kenneth Begin and his wife Wendy (Gregory) Begin, Wayne Begin and his son Alex, and Timothy Begin, his wife Carrie Begin and son Kenneth, and a sister, Louise Begin. He is pre-deceased by his grandson Corey Begin, his father Eugene Begin, and his sister, Reneé Begin. Mr. Begin was born in Manchester, NH to Rosanna (Therrian) and Eugene Begin. He graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1943 and immediately joined the US Air Force, serving as Technical Sergeant/central fire control in the Japanese Air Offensive 870th bomb squadron. He completed 25 missions and was awarded a distinguished flying cross and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Metal prior to his discharge in 1945. Soon afterwards he started classes at Bates College, where he met his wife Arlene; he graduated in the class of 1949. Mr. Begin was a natural salesman and a hard worker with a positive and persevering attitude. He became a partner and owner of Kingston Lumber Yard in 1955 and of Ye Olde Windjammer Forge in 1968. He retired in 1994. In 1966 Lee began his walk of faith with Jesus Christ. He never tired of sharing God’s love and forgiveness with others. He loved to laugh and liked to hunt but nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family. He was a member of the Duxbury Rotary Club, an active member of the Plymouth Rock Bible Church and The Gideons International. A private internment with military honors will be held for family members at Hillcrest Cemetery in Plympton. A memorial service will be held at Plymouth Rock Bible Church, 267 Carver Rd., Plymouth MA on November 11th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Plymouth Rock Bible church or The Gideons International (PO Box 403810, Atlanta, GA 30384).
