Obituary of Robert Traynor
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Traynor, 96, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on August 25 at
Wingate. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth and his son William
and daughter Jackie. Robert is survived by his sons James and his wife
Louise of Pembroke, Patrick and his wife Susan of Marshfield. He is
also survived by his grandchildren Robert, Michael and Steven Traynor,
David, Susan and Andrew Shea, as well as many great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews. He was born in 1916 to parents Lewis Koritzky and
Lucy Traynor. He served honorably as a Corporal in the U.S. National
Guard. Bob was married to Phyllis Gould until her death in 1955. He
then married Elizabeth Ewart, and they remained together until her
death, just last month. Throughout his life, he exhibited an
extraordinary work ethic. Refusing to relax after retiring, he became
the sexton and general "go to" guy for twenty years at the First
Parish Church in Duxbury. An accomplished wood craftsman, he was
happiest when puttering in his cellar. Relaxation would only come
during his time spent camping at Blueberry Hill in Plymouth, where his
campsite was often the birthplace of some of the more memorable events
at the campground. Visiting hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home,
7 Mattakeesett St., (Rte. 14), Pembroke on Tuesday, September 4 from
2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the First Parish
Church of Duxbury, 842 Tremont St. (Rte. 3A) on Friday, September 7 at
11:30am. A collation celebrating the lives of Bob and Betty Traynor will
be held at the church following the service.
