Fredric C. Hammel, 67 of Duxbury, passed away on Sunday, June 3 at Brigham and Women’s hospital supported and surrounded by his cherished and devoted family. His love of family and life lives on in his wife of 43 years, Melissa Hammel, his children David of Duxbury, Brian of Watertown, and Rebecca of Duxbury, and his adored grandchildren, Alexandra, Matthew and Jonathan, all of Duxbury. Fredric is also survived by his brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Elke of Milton as well as many nieces and nephews. He was born in Quincy on July 14, 1944 and grew up in Milton, graduating from Milton High School in 1962. Fredric graduated from Syracuse University in 1966 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career as a sales engineer with Westinghouse Electric Corp. in their Power Systems group, continuing with EDS as an account executive with PLM Solutions and recently retiring in January of 2012 from Siemens Corp. as manager of Northeast Channel Operations. Mr. Hammel was a member of the Duxbury Yacht Club, an avid golfer, boater, and photographer. He will be remembered as the consummate family man! Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of his life on Monday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury. Donations in Fredric’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society, and mailed to The DHS Girls Hockey Team “Relay for Life,” 17 8th Road, Marshfield, MA. 02050.
