Richard D. (Dick) Glass, age 72, Retired Master Sergeant, USAF, of Addison, ME, formerly of Wareham, MA, died at his home on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Mr. Glass was born in Duxbury, MA, on June 26, 1939 to Ellen H. (Hanigan) & Delbert C. Glass. He was a 1957 graduate of Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge, MA. After graduation, he served as an air technician in the USAF until 1970 and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard 102nd Fighter Interceptor Wing in 1986. One of the original members of the rescue dive squad, Richard served on the Duxbury Volunteer Fire Department from 1959 to 1971. He enjoyed boating, fishing, sea clamming and reading. Richard was a master of Yankee ingenuity and could fix anything! He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Greta E. (Glass), who was by his side as he took his last breath; daughter, Lisa L. Thibodeau & her husband Robert of North Carolina; son, Richard B. Glass & his wife Tammy J. (Berryman) of West Wareham, MA; son, Kerry Glass & his wife Joanne M. (Coogan) of Hanson, MA; daughter Tammie of Hanson, MA; ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; a sister, Nancy Hanigan of Lakeville, MA, and a cousin who was more like a brother, Loren C. Nass of Duxbury, MA. The family is thankful for the special friendship of Teresa Dempsey of Columbia, ME. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Addison Volunteer Fire Department, Addison, ME 04606.
