William Brooks Eaton passed away peacefully at New England Village, Pembroke, MA on Thursday, April 19, 2012. At the time of his passing Brooks’ cousin Paul Trumbour was at his bedside reading to him the beginning of Genesis from his favorite book, the Bible, as music of his beloved musician, Elvis, softly played in the background.
Brooks was the son of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Upton Eaton and Arthur Tibbetts Eaton of Marietta, GA, and the grandson of the late Lillian Arey Haywood of Salem, MA.
Born in Salem, MA on 9/5/49, Brooks lived in Marietta, GA for many years before becoming a resident of New England Village in Pembroke, MA for the last 18 years. He was the winner of numerous medals in the Special Olympics Swimming Events and was an avid bowler. His winsome smile will be missed by those who knew him.
Brooks leaves numerous cousins and friends as well as faithful staff of New England Village. His guardians since the death of his parents have been Jon Haywood of Newton, MA, Peter Haywood of Salem, MA and Suzanne Haywood Trumbour of Medfield, MA.
A celebration of Brooks’ life will be held at New England Village, Pembroke MA on May 6, 2012 at 3 PM. A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
