Priscilla (Peggy) Sayce, 91, formerly of Duxbury, MA, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Wingate Skilled Care Center in Kingston. Born on May 9, 1920, in Plymouth, MA to parents G. Gertrude (Clemons) and Howard Rushton. She is survived by a loving son, James Nelson Sayce of Pembroke, MA and a granddaughter, Molly Rose Sayce of Brighton, MA. She is the aunt of Wendell and Silvia Rushton and family of Orange Park, Florida and John and Kathleen Rushton and family of Kingston, MA. Peggy was predeceased by her daughter, Judith Sayce, along with a sister, Clara Rushton and her brothers, Melvin and Paul Cabot Rushton. Peggy was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1938, and also a graduate of Boston YWCA School of Domestic Science and Quincy School of Culinary Arts. She first used her acquired cooking skills being employed by very prominent residents of Plymouth, followed with over 20 years as an office clerk at Ocean Spray Cranberry Company in Hanson, Foxboro Company in East Bridgewater and as a bookkeeper at Hanson Hardware of Hanson and retired from Cape Cod Lumber Company of Barnstable, MA. She was a dedicated member of the Mayflower Congregational Church in Kingston, MA, where she served as a deaconess, assistant financial secretary and a member of the Mayflower Women's Club. Peggy was also a volunteer with the Friends of the Duxbury Council on Aging. A lifelong resident of Saquish Head in Plymouth, she could often be seen enjoying rowing her boat, taking long walks on the beach, as well as swimming and visiting friends there, into her 90th year! Some of her other interests were sewing, knitting, watching the Red Sox, bird watching, making jams and jellies and helping others. A memorial service will be held at the Mayflower Congregational Church, 207 Main Street, Kingston, MA, on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 11:00 AM.
