Mike - For some reason this morning I called your cell phone and got the disconnect signal . I then decided to google you and to my shock I discovered you had passed on .
Mike you were the best structural engineer I have ever came to meet and a great great person . Your knowledge was unmathced in this day and attention to detail.
Thanks for the memories, all the professional help and , that boat ride around Duxbury Bay. from your new home .
My sympathies to Pam and all the family.

I knew Mike when Iwas starting in engineering here in Bostonand found that he was a direct descencent of Ralph Waldo Emerson, of Walden Pond fame. it's trancendental philosphy of intuitive above the empirical that Mike tranformed into enjoying life way, way above the ordinary.
I grubstaked Mike after we were both unfairly fired for moonlighting. and he thought of going back to Muncie, Ind. to work in his family's gas station, so I gave him a grubstake to stay here in Boston and set up his first company with his offce on the top of a woddoor laid over concrete cinder blocks in the apartment he and Irene had in Brookline.'
I gave him the grubstake finacially because it was secured by the INTEREST of his wit and getting to share his PRINCIPLE [sic] of living beyond and above the ordinary.
I spent many, many hours going thru many cases and cases via quart bottles of Johnny Walker Black Label Scotch at his many homes he had, starting at the one overlooking the Charles River, then overlooking Logan Airport runways across the harbour from Winthop. Enjoying the wonderful hospitality of he and Irene
He graduated Sumns-cum-laude from Purdue Unuversity witch first showed his ultra intelligence, but while he was working, now having a civil engineering company, concrete/ materal testing labortory, surveying and guard company, he decided to go to Suffolk Law School in his "spare time" and grauated sumna-cu-laude. All the while trying to drink me under the table with the Johhny Walker.
As well off and ultra intelligent as he was, I never seen him patronize a snigle person, never, ever.
.He essentially used his ultra sharp endineering mid to end up ending up in a house in Duxbury, a lands end house located next to an estuary that is so prominant that even on an Us or state map you could point to it and say Mike live there.I think that was his Walden Pond
I know that Mike is waiting to refill my tall glasss with more Johhny Walker Black Label..
Be ready to give me a big refill, but I'll need another tall glasss, because this one is filled with tears
Bottoms up pal...... . . .

My sincerest condolences to Mike’s family and friends. I just learned today of his passing. I knew Mike from working with him on several projects over the past years. Although I never knew Mike socially, I know it would have been a lot of fun.
When Mike called me I would always smile because he was so upbeat and friendly and always had a clever idea for completing a difficult project. He’s probably helping St Peter shore up the pearly gates as I write.
I truly enjoyed working with Mike and I am sure he will be missed by a lot of people. I know I will.

To the family of Michael Emerson:
We are deeply saddened by Mike's death. We so wish we could be with you at this time, but Sue is recuperating from a six vertebrae fusion which means Jon must be with her at all times.
For Pam: we have such fond memories of our times with you and Mike here in Greenville and Savannah and a year and half ago in your beautiful home and setting.
Irene: Jon and I fondly remember our times with you and Mike in Florida, especially, the evening in the French restaurant when Jon pulled off the "Mob" joke. Your daughters certainly reflect your love and time invested in them.
To Elizabeth, Michelle and Mike: we remember how darling you all were when you were growing up.
To Kathleen: we enjoy recalling your beauty. Your father adored your son.
And now to Anne: you were undoubtedly one of the most beautiful children we have ever seen. You have turned out to be a lovely and poised young lady, of whom your father adored. We appreciate your reaching out to us on Tuesday.
Isabelle: Jon has recounted your dedicated hours of practices...and was duly impressed. Mike kept us informed about you, which he relished.
And to ALL of you, we send our sincere condolences and love.
Love, Sue & Jon Oren
