Grace "Gugi" M. (Ryan) McCarthy, age 86, of Plymouth, died suddenly after a short illness, at her home on Friday, September 23, 2011. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late James & Grace (Lynch) Ryan. Grace was an Executive Secretary for 19 years at the South Shore Community Action in Plymouth. She was also one of the most loving caregivers for Cranberry Hospice for 28 years. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene T. McCarthy; precious mother of Joseph McCarthy of North Weymouth, Barbara Ryan of Naples, FL and Patricia McCarthy of Plymouth; adored grandmother of Thomas Randall of Dennisport, Joseph M. McCarthy, Jr. of Quincy, Michael McCarthy of Quincy, Ryan Aresta of Plymouth and predeceased by Billy Ryan; and great-grandmother of Makayla and Liana Randall of Dennisport and dear sister of Barbara Stevens of Kingston, Essie Scurrah of Nashua, NH and the late James Ryan. Gugi will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Monday, September 26, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Her Funeral Mass will held at Saint Mary's Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth, on Tuesday, September 27 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
