John T. Voikos, 63, of Kingston, died peacefully at his home after a long illness on January 22, 2018. John was the son of the late Andrew Voikos and Mary (Frazier) Voikos. He is survived by two sister, Andrea Dorr of Scituate, RI and Karen McLaughlin of Kingston. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Katherine and Richard Conant of Washington DC. John attended LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI, and from there he attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. John was a highly ranked tennis player in the United States Tennis Association Junior program. After college John moved to the South Shore in Massachusetts and taught tennis at many of the local clubs. For the past 17 years John worked as a senior teaching pro at Scituate Racquet and Fitness in Scituate, MA. In the past five years John was also instrumental in helping to grow the game of paddle Tennis on the South Shore. He helped form a local team to compete in the Greater Boston Paddle League and led the team to the State Championship in 2016. His enthusiasm for the sport led to many more athletes learning the game of Paddle, and he fueled the need for six new courts in the area. There will be a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, February 10th from 4-6:00PM at the Scituate Racquet and Fitness, 1004 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate.
