Paula Mary (Pasquina) Babbin of Carver, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Plymouth, Massachusetts on December 30, 2017 at the age of 87. Born September 8, 1930, in Somerville, Massachusetts, she was the daughter to Charles and Emma Pasquina and twin sister to Carol Bishop. Paula and Carol shared a special relationship throughout their lives never going a day without talking. Paula graduated from Arlington High School in 1947. After high school, Paula worked at Simplex Wire & Cable Company where she was employed as an IBM Operator. It was at Simplex Wire & Cable that she met her husband, Donald L. Babbin who worked at the same Company as a Chemical Engineer. After just one month of dating, Don knew that Paula was the one and asked her to marry him, she insisted he wait. In 9 months, he again asked for her hand in marriage. This time she said yes and on January 28th, 1956, Paula married her best friend. The admiration, love and upmost respect that the two of them had for each other was a real life love story and was prized to all those who knew them. Paula and Donald were most proud of the life that they created and were focused among their five children, a bond centered around love. Her husband remembers her as a loving and devoted wife. Her children remember her as a kind and loving mother who always supported them and encouraged them to pursue their goals. As a young woman, Paula loved playing softball and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Her love and enthusiasm for the game brought her so much joy. Paula was best known for her ability to light up a room with her stories, unforgettable jokes, incredible sense of humor, infectious laugh and her love for her family and her dog Buddy. Paula was an active volunteer and was passionate about making a positive impact in her local community. She was a devoted Catholic and had served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a Communicant of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish. She was well known as Selectman for the Town of Carver; she was Chairman on the Board of Council on Aging in Carver and spent countless hours providing meals on wheels to local residents.
