Barbara A Walsh of Duxbury passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Jan 30, 1932, she was the wife of the late Joseph Walsh and the stepmother of Mike and Laureen Walsh of Rockland, Martin Walsh of Norwell, Tim Walsh of Somerville and the grandmother of the late Amy Walsh, of Joshua Walsh and of Marcie Walsh-O’Connor and spouse Erin O’Connor and great-grandmother to Eleanor Walsh-O’Connor, She was the daughter of the late Leo and Edith Schleicher of Easton, brother of Leo and Anne Schleicher of Norton and of the late Jack Schleicher of Easton. A graduate of Oliver Ames High School, she was employed for many years at the South Boston Army Base, and worked as an office manager at Plymouth Travel. She had a long and close association with the Mirimar Retreat House in Duxbury. She also volunteered for many years as a driver to get people in need to their medical appointments in Boston and the greater southeastern MA area. Barbara was an avid skier, liked to golf and loved to travel, visiting many places in the world with her beloved husband Joe. She always enjoyed a good party and loved any occasion when she could spend time with her family and friends. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as many dear friends who were always there to help her in her times of need. She will be deeply missed by all. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston on Monday, February 6, from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 7 at St. Mary's Church in Plymouth at 10:00AM. Internment will follow at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mirimar Retreat House (PO Box M, Duxbury), Mary Slaughter Fund for Breast Cancer Research (via Mass. General Hospital Development Office), or to the American Cancer Society.
