Obituary of Robert Martin Johnson

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert Martin Johnson, beloved husband, father and future grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 29, 2024 after a brief illness.

Rob was predeceased by his father Robert A. Johnson.  He is survived by his loving wife Gina (Tortora) Johnson, son Joseph Tortora and wife Caroline (McCarthy) of Kingston, daughter Abigail Johnson, daughter Ashleigh Johnson, mother Diane (Joyce) Johnson, brother Eric Johnson, father in law Frank Tortora, and mother in law Linda Tortora.

Rob grew up in Plymouth and attended Plymouth Schools.  He worked for over thirty years in the supermarket industry proudly managing many crews and teams making lifelong friends along the way. Anyone who knew Rob will tell you he is the hardest working person they know.

Rob’s favorite past times were defending the New York Yankees to Red Sox fans and most importantly, watching and supporting his children playing sports.  He worked third shift for most of his career so he could attend any school engagement for Joe, Abby and Ashleigh.  You could always find Rob in the stands for countless football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and field hockey games, just thrilled to proudly watch his kids and their friends play.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Johnson family would like to express our sincere thanks to the Oncology nurses, Critical Care Team and Palliative Care Team at South Shore Hospital for all of the support and kindness during Rob’s final days.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 on Thursday, May 2nd at Shepherds Funeral Home at 116 Main Street in Carver.  Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Carver at 10 am on Friday, May 3rd, followed by burial at Central Cemetery in Carver.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.
