Edward R. Brennan Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward R. Brennan, 82, of Plymouth, formerly of Kingston, on February 28, 2026. He has been reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 51 years, Jane Brennan.

Ed was the loving father of Laurie Smith (Bob) of Ashburnham and Lynn Thompson (Douglas) of Mashpee. He was the proud grandfather of Jacob, Alexandra, Joshua, Brittany, Corey, Natalie, Isabel, and John.

He is survived by his sisters, Cynthia Hobbs (James) of Yarmouth and Dorothy K. Neal of Kingston, and his sister-in-law, Jean Brennan of Matthews, NC. Ed also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and his wife of 8 years, Jean Francis.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, James F. and Anne L. Brennan; his brothers, James F. Brennan Jr. and Robert A. Brennan.

Ed graduated from Hanover High School in 1961 and was a proud member and Captain of the Track and Cross-Country Teams. He served in the Army Reserves and established a career as a dedicated carpenter. At the age of 20, he married his sweetheart, Jane, beginning a 51-year marriage and raising twin girls whom he adored. He cherished spending time with them and his grandchildren later in life. Ed was an avid sports enthusiast, both as a spectator and a participant, often found playing foursquare, kickball, or street hockey with the neighborhood kids. He was passionate about golf and enjoyed playing racquetball, spending time with family and friends over a good meal, or engaging in a competitive card or board game.

Together, Ed and Jane successfully owned and managed an acoustical ceiling business, Brennan Interior Contractors, Inc. for over 30 years, serving the Greater Boston area and beyond. A true family venture, the business employed many family members over the years. Ed was highly respected throughout the industry, known for his integrity and often requested by name. His dry sense of humor and outgoing personality made him a beloved figure, well-liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ed’s life was rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ, which served as his compass and source of strength. His personal relationship with God was the foundation upon which he lived.

Visitation and Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, April 30th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106) in Kingston.

A private interment will be held on Friday, May 1st.

These arrangements have been lovingly prepared and provided for by his daughters, Lynn and Laurie, to honor their father's memory.
