Dorothy L. Burr Obituary
Dorothy Louise (Mellaly) Burr passed away peacefully at her home in Plymouth, MA, Saturday, April 11, 2026, with family by her side.
Dorothy was born on February 9, 1939 and later graduated from Norwood High School in 1956. Two years later Dorothy married her late husband Robert Burr on December 28, 1958 in Norwood, MA. Dorothy and Robert eventually moved to Duxbury, MA where she was a Duxbury school bus driver for many years. Following her bus driver career, Robert and Dorothy established their business, Standard Repair Company. After 34 years residing in Duxbury, they moved to Plymouth, MA.
Dorothy enjoyed spending summers at their property known as “Campy House” in Otisfield, ME. While in Maine, she enjoyed an evening boat ride to look at the loons which were her favorite animal. During the day she enjoyed a cribbage game or two with family and friends. When not in Maine, Dorothy enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, to include the Great Wall of China and the Alaskan Northern Lights. She also enjoyed attending Bingo, visiting a casino, a weekday ladies’ lunch, and shopping.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert M. Burr, and her brother, Hubert J. Mellaly. Dorothy is survived by her children, daughter Lynda (Burr) Fahrney, son Scott C. Burr, and daughter Kimberly (Burr) Andersen. As well as many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 10am-1pm at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA, followed by a 1: 30pm graveside service at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, MA. Family and friends are invited to Carmela’s, 138 Main Street, Kingston, MA, 02364 for a Celebration of Life at 2:30pm.
