Richard Walter Egelstrom, age 92, of Kingston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026.

Born on February 16, 1934, in Boston, Massachusetts, Richard was the son of Walter Egelstrom, who was born in Sweden, and Ingeborg Egelstrom, who was born in Boston. He attended Boston Technical High School and continued his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology before earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Northeastern University.

Richard proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 and served until 1957, where he worked on radar systems for aircraft, developing skills that would shape his future career in engineering.

Richard lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, career, and personal passions. He spent 30 years working as a mechanical engineer for Albany International Research Corporation, where he was respected for his knowledge, professionalism, and strong work ethic.

A master bridge player, Richard found great joy in the game and formed many lasting friendships through his skill and love of competition. He was also an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, faithfully following their seasons.

Richard had a deep love for time spent with his family. He enjoyed camping trips over the years and, in retirement, treasured traveling on road trips with his beloved wife, Evelyn.

Above all, Richard cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Evelyn; his children, Dawn, Gail, and Eric and his wife, Jessica; his grandchildren, Nathan and Reilly; and his half-sister, Christine.

Richard will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet strength, and enduring love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
