John Ryan of Norton, MA passed away suddenly on December 28, 2025. Born on May 26, 1968, in Winchester, John started his life in Stoneham with family until moving to Carver when he was 9. He grew up in Carver and graduated from Plymouth-Carver High School with the class of 1986. His childhood was filled with sports, music and many lifelong friendships.
John went on to graduate from Bridgewater State College with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and landed his first job in his career field as Director of Men’s Fitness at the Striar Jewish Community Center in Stoughton. This is where he would meet the love of his life, Linda Saperstein, whom he would marry on April 29, 2001, surrounded by friends and family. John was an amazing stepfather to Aaron Mann and Danielle Mann of Coventry, RI. In 2019 he became a grandfather and adored being a Papa to Lucas Costanza, who was the twinkle in John’s eye.
Throughout his life John worked in many different fields but always had his hands in personal health and fitness. He would help anyone attain their fitness goals and enjoyed all of his time in the gym; especially with his lifting partner and friend of over 25 years Mike Ahern. The two of them were inseparable and always at the gym together. As he did in his childhood, he spent his life enjoying sports, music and spending times with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Linda of North Easton, his parents Paul and Judith (Whitten) Ryan of Carver, his brother Michael and his wife Melissa of Carver, his in-laws Paul and Arlene Saperstein of Florida, Michael Saperstein of Boston and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at Shepherds Funeral Home located at 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA at 11am with a private luncheon for family and close friends afterwards. In lieu of flowers and gifts donations can be made to the Lucas Costanza College Fund in memory of John Ryan in care of North Easton Savings Bank, PO Box 811, Carver MA 02330.
John will be missed dearly by all those who knew him, but his smile will be remembered for eternity.
