Lucien "Lou" Paul Brouillard Jr.
Born July 3, 1936 - Passed October 12, 2025
Lucien Brouillard Jr., known to many as "Lou," passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born in Quincy, MA, Lou's perseverance and tenacity were evident in everything he did.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Donna G. (Sealund) Brouillard; his five children, Lisa Brouillard, Amy Brouillard, Jodi Hinkle, Lucien P. Brouillard III (Luke), and Beth Brouillard; grandchildren, Jason Bither, Jillian Landry, Nathan Bither, Samuel Andrade, Amanda Willow, Kyle Hinkle, Trevor Hinkle, and Emily Brouillard; and great-grandchildren, Halie Bither, Nathan Bither Jr., Owen Bither, Kylee Hinkle, and Mazie Landry.
Lou was the only son of the late Minnie and Lucien P. Brouillard Sr., of Halifax/Higham MA. His parents instilled in him perseverance, strength, and a nurturing spirit. His father, a professional boxer, held undisputed World Welterweight and Middleweight titles, while his mother, Minnie, was a devoted parent who fostered a love of animals, raising multiple generations of Golden Retrievers.
He is also survived by his sisters, Judith Confar of Carver, MA, and Patricia Fernald of Plympton, MA, and was predeceased by his sisters Florence Murdock, Joan Bromley, and Linda Lund. Lou was deeply loved by many nieces, nephews, and cherished extended family and friends.
Lou and Donna raised their five children on a family farm in Middleboro, where they grew vegetables, raised livestock, and enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, and countless adventures. Through daily life on the farm and caring for family pets, Lou instilled in his children the value of hard work, independence, and an appreciation for nature.
In 1966, Lou built his business from the ground up, establishing Brouillard Company Inc., a respected excavation and grading company initially in Marshfield and currently in Middleboro, where his son, Lucien (Luke) Brouillard Ill, continues to uphold his father's legacy.
The Brouillard family also enjoyed a second home at Saquish Beach in Plymouth, MA, where Lou found joy in the community and camaraderie of friends. He led years of conservation efforts to protect the beach and served on the Gurnett-Saquish Board of Directors for many years.
In keeping with Lou's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School, 2nd floor of the Smith Building, located at 457 Washington Street, Duxbury, MA 02332. Parking is available on site, and a ramp and elevator provide easy access for all. In lieu of flowers, guests are invited to bring a written favorite memory of Lou to share and be collected at the celebration.
