John Edward “Jack” Pelrin, 68, of Carver, MA, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Boston, MA, after a brief but aggressive illness. Burial will take place privately at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Shepherd Funeral Home of Carver.

Born in Dorchester, MA, Jack was the son of the late Gerard and Gertrude Pelrin. He attended Hingham High School and later studied at Massasoit Junior College, where he was a standout basketball player. He built a career  that first focused on manufacturing management before he discovered his true passion, in computer sciences, receiving many certifications in this field. Jack fulfilled this passion by working as a network administrator at Intest Thermal Solutions in Mansfield, MA for many years.  He thrived in computer diagnostics and maintenance until his retirement three years ago.

Jack had a love of learning that carried through every part of his life. Whether listening to podcasts, discovering new restaurants, trying out different beers, or exploring technology trends, he was always eager to expand his knowledge. He enjoyed driving throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and smoking an occasional cigar.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Pelrin of Carver, MA; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Kim Pelrin of Stoughton; and many nieces, nephews, and their families, including Sarah Pelrin; Matthew McGowan; Casey and Deirdre Pelrin and their daughter; Megan and Jeff DeInnocentis and their three children; Daniel and Marielle McGowan and their daughter; Miles and Kristen Souza and their two children; and Cameron and Ceara Souza.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gerard and Gertrude Pelrin; his sisters, Barbara McGowan, Margaret Pelrin, and Nora Pelrin; and his brothers, Lawrence Pelrin and Thomas Pelrin, and sister-in-law Karen Pelrin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. While Jack’s illness prevented him from fulfilling his wish to be an organ donor, he was able to contribute through tissue donation, allowing him to help others even at the end of his life.
