John W. "Jack" Torrey, age 80, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Kingston, Massachusetts. Born on January 17, 1945, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Jack lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, craftsmanship, and quiet generosity.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army and was deployed to Germany during his military tenure. His time in the service reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Jack was an on call fireman for the town of plympton.

A man of many talents and interests, Jack had a passion for carpentry and model boats. He found joy in working with his hands, whether crafting intricate miniature vessels or building something useful from wood. His love for cats brought him comfort and companionship over the years. Known for always having a cigarette in hand and a smile on his face, Jack’s presence was both familiar and comforting to those around him.

Jack was known for his caring nature and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether assisting family members or neighbors, he offered support without hesitation or expectation. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Melinda, James, and Pamela; his sisters Carol Quirke and Susan McFarlane; brother-in-law John Quirke; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Enid and Earl Torrey; his brother David Torrey; son Robert Torrey; and brother-in-law Raymond McFarlane.

A celebration of life will be held on October 14th from 6-8pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main St. Kingston MA.
