Susan (Jones) Panzer, 79, of Carver, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. 

Born in Needham, MA., Susan made Carver her home in 1978.  She attended Ursuline Academy in Springfield, MA., graduating with the class of 1964, and went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1967.

Not long after graduating, Susan embraced her adventurous spirit, traveling to Australia and settling in Bondi Beach for over two years.  While abroad, she took a trip to Europe and visited Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, where she met the love of her life, Michael. They married on May 26, 1973, and shared 49 loving years together until Michael’s passing in 2022. 

Susan’s heart for caring was most evident in her 34-year career as a maternity nurse at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA. She retired in 2007, having supported countless new mothers and joyfully welcoming thousands of newborns into the world with warmth and compassion.

In retirement, Susan found joy in creating jewelry, especially bracelets and necklaces. What began as a hobby for friends and family blossomed into a thriving Etsy shop, where her beautiful pieces found homes across the country.

Susan was predeceased by her husband, Michael Panzer. She is survived by her two sons, Justin Panzer with his partner Wendy, and Darryl Panzer with his wife Tiffany. She was a proud and loving Nana to Arianna, Kaylie, Guy, and Dean. Susan will be remembered for her caring spirit, generosity, and deep love for her family.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20th, at the Shepherd Funeral Home in Carver, MA. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 21st, at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Plymouth, MA at 10:30 a.m. followed by a burial service at the National Cemetery in Bourne.  All is welcome to celebrate her life.
