Bethly Buehlmann, 90, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025. Born in 1934 in Sarnen, Switzerland, she was the only daughter of 4 children. With great curiosity about the world, she traveled to France, England, and America working as a live-in nanny. She landed in New York City by ship and travelled by bus to San Francisco. Bethly eventually met her husband Louis at the San Francisco Swiss Club. Together they started Sequoia Ski Shop in Millbrae California near the San Francisco Airport.  For decades Sequoia was a local icon for families to fulfill all their skiing needs. 

Bethly and Louis frequently returned to Switzerland to visit family and friends maintaining their Swiss heritage. Later in life she and Louis traveled throughout Europe from Barcelona to Moscow. They were married 57 years.  After Louis passed away at the end of 2019 at the age of 91, Bethly moved to Duxbury to be near her son and his family. She lived in Duxbury for 5 years. 

Bethly is survived by her son Eric, his wife Katie, their children Holly and Thomas, and by her daughter Lorna Clarke, her husband Dave, and their daughters Kirsten and Brenna who live in the Pacific Northwest.

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. Kingston on Saturday, August 2nd from 8:30 - 9:30am. A funeral mass will be held directly following at Holy Family Church, Duxbury MA at 10:00am
