Norman R Maynard Obituary

On July 13,1944 Norman Maynard was born. He lived locally with his father until  2001. He then moved to Carver, Ma. He enjoyed music, bowling with friends with Community Connections and riding his bicycle daily. He also attended services at the Pentecostal church in Middleboro. Norman would also talk fondly of his Aunt Rosie and lit up when talking about her.

As time went on it became difficult for Norman to continue to live alone. That is when he was introduced to the Adult Family Care program (of Family Service Association)  to identify a caregiver that would welcome Norman into their home and provide care and companionship. On May 4, 2006 is when the magic happened. We introduced Norman to his fulltime caregiver, Gladys, and he became a member of her household and family for the past 19 years. Norman was warmly embraced and had an amazing life participating in day-to-day family routines-birthday and holiday celebrations and he especially loved traveling with Gladys on vacations. During his time with Gladys, Norman also developed a fond friendship with Charlie, who was a member of his support services and looked forward to their monthly visits together.

At the end of March, Norman’s health began to change requiring hospitalization. Gladys was a constant presence at his bedside providing care, companionship and planning their next vacation to Myrtle Beach. Norman succumbed to his illness on May 19, 2025. We will miss Norman and wish to thank Gladys for all her care and love that she gave to Norman in life and now we welcome him home.
