William C Hietala 80, of Carver, formally of Rockland passed away on May 17 surrounded by his family at the VA hospital in West Roxbury. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Doris. Loving father of Jeffrey Hietala and Christine Johnson of Holbrook and Douglas Hietala and Aurora Xavier of Norwell. Brother to John Hietala of Norwell and predeceased by brother Victor Hietala of Weymouth. Cherished grandfather to Jacob, Emily and Douglas Jr. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a Marine Corps veteran of the Cuban blockade and the Vietnam war. He was also a graduate of Newbury College. Bill sold industrial protective wear as an independent manufacturers representative for 40+ years. He was an avid reader and a passionate sculptor under the surname of Eusebio.
Visiting hours for William will be held on Tuesday, May 27th from 4 to 8pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home in Carver, A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 11:30am at the Funeral Home followed by a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his honor to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans)
