Phyllis A. Fountain Obituary

Phyllis A (Vautour) Fountain, 89, of Duxbury, formally of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 11, 2025. Phyllis was the devoted wife, for 68 years, to the late Dr. William R Fountain, Jr. She was born in Gardner, MA to the late Leo and Margaret Vautour.


She was the loving mom of six children, Bill (Robin), Jane O’Neal (Matt), Nancy Stanton (Bob), Robert (Rita), Kathleen Cerretani (Mark) and Charles (Emily); grandmother to eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.


After moving to the Village at Duxbury, to be closer to family, she enjoyed bringing hymns to Sunday morning service, gathering with her friends for coffee at the Bistro, exercising and lively political conversations. As a passionate bridge player Phyllis achieved her personal goal of “Life Master”.


A Celebration of Life mass will be held at Holy Family Church, Duxbury, MA on Monday, May 19th at 10:00am. Burial will be private.
