Eunice M. Hannon

April 15, 2025

Eunice M. Hannon of Duxbury, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 15, 2025.

Eunice was born in Boston and lived her entire life in the Boston area. She was the daughter of David J. Connolly and Eunice M. (Galvin) Connolly. She graduated of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton in 1958 and Aquinas Junior College of Milton. Early in her career she worked as a secretary and later went back to school to become a medical transcriptionist, even operating her own transcription business for a few years at the end of her career.

Eunice met her husband Bill at a dance at the Holy Name church in West Roxbury and they enjoyed a marriage of more than 60 years together before Bill’s passing in 2023. They had three children Kathleen of Braintree, Bill of Harwich Port, and Dave (and Doris) of West Roxbury, and two granddaughters Jenny and Julie Lawton whom “Nanny” adored.

Eunice and Bill lived for 30 years in Chelmsford, Mass. before they moved to Duxbury, Mass. in 1996 and enjoyed a wonderful retirement full of travel and activity with friends, old and new. For much of her retirement, she was a member of a walking club in Duxbury, was an avid knitter, making sweaters and scarves for family and friends and remained a dedicated Patriots and Bruins fan (even this year!).

The Hannon family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Queen Anne rehab in Hingham, and Edelweiss Village and the German Centre in West Roxbury for their compassionate and thoughtful care.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 24th from 3-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Friday April 25th at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury. A graveside service will follow at Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury.

Donations can be made to the Cardinal Cushing Center in Hanover and the American Heart Association.
