Obituary of Jay W. Cameron

Jay W. Cameron passed away on March 02, 2025 after a lengthy illness at Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleboro, MA.

He was born in Brockton, MA on April 22, 1951. He was the son of the late Leon H. Cameron and Ella E. (Perkins) Cameron.

Jay graduated from Whitman-Hanson High School in 1970 where he participated in the football and wrestling programs. He completed an apprenticeship in the meat department at Shaw’s Supermarket in Hanson, Ma. He worked in many stores around Massachusetts as an Assistant Manager and a Department Manager. He was beloved by fellow associates and  customers alike. Jay retired in 2013 after 47 years with Shaw’s.

He played softball for the Hanson Shaw’s team and also ran a tabletop hockey league at his home for over 15 years. He coached his son’s T-ball team at one time. He enjoyed watching his kids play soccer on both the town and school teams. Jay was an avid fan of his son’s High School wrestling program of which he spent many hours cheering for the team! He was a passionate golfer and participated in many golf tournaments. He had lots of fun playing with his friends and co-workers.

Jay is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen M. (Welch) Cameron,  his two sons, Justin W. Cameron and his fiance Kristen M. Dunn of Kingston, Ma., and Jarrod L.T. Cameron and Melissa Johnson of Plymouth, Ma. He leaves behind two granddaughters Seraphina K. Cameron and Peyton G. Coletti also of Plymouth, MA. He is also survived by his siblings, Kimm Cameron and his wife Tamilou Cameron of Carver, Ma., Mark Cameron and his wife Donna Cameron of Lakeville, Ma., Merilyn Hashem of Middleboro, Ma. and  Ellen Bonnell of Kingston, Ma. He was the brother of the late Leon Cameron of Florida, Mitchell Cameron of Carver, Ma. and Marsha Kealey of Halifax, Ma. He was much loved by his many nieces and nephews.

Services for Jay will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St ,Carver, Ma. on March 16, 2025 from 11:00 to 3:00pm.
