Obituary of Glenn D. Harris

Doug Harris passed away peacefully at home at the age of 77 surrounded by family on Wednesday February 26th 2025.  Doug was born on April 8, 1947 in Laurens South Carolina.  Only child of the late O’Vera Giles Harris Kinnally and the late Herman L. Harris of South Carolina, and stepson to the late Robert F Kinnally of Revere.

            He leaves behind his loving wife Helen Tambolleo Harris from Harwich Ma.  He is survived by his son Michael Harris and wife Michelle Harris of Plymouth, Matthew Harris and wife Erin Harris, and their children Madalyn Grace Harris and Shea Harris of Plymouth. 

Doug graduated Harwich High School in 1966 where he played baseball and soccer.  Upon graduation, Doug enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served on the USCG  Cutter Campbell in Vietnam.  He married his high school sweetheart in November of 1970.  They settled in Plymouth in 1979 where they raised their sons.  He worked in the insurance field most of his life, but his true passion was his family and friends.  He enjoyed camping with friends, reading, coaching his sons in little league and babe ruth, and weekends spent on Plymouth Beach.  He was a man who loved his family and enjoyed helping others.  He especially delighted in taking care of his grandchildren.

Services will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St Carver Ma on Monday March 10th from 4-7pm with a short service at 6pm.  The committal ceremony will take place at Bourne National Cemetery on Tuesday March 11th at 10am.  The reception will follow at the Plymouth Yacht Club on 34 Union Street in Plymouth.
