Maureen Orpha George of Plympton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 22, 2025 at the age of 63.

Maureen was born in Springfield, Ohio on St. Patrick’s Day - Friday, March 17, 1961 to Edwin Dennison of Chesapeake, Ohio and Anastasia Maddox of Bay Bulls, Newfoundland. She moved with her mother and six brothers and sisters - Dale, Daniel, Timothy, Patricia, Florence, and Carlene - from Springfield, OH to Pembroke, MA in 1967, where her family would lay their roots. Her family grew again, welcoming her two younger sisters Elizabeth and Monooshag Yehktikian in 1970 and 1972, respectively.

She graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1979, became a Registered Nurse in 1997, and amassed over a decade of service as a Certified Diabetes Educator, with a successful and fulfilling career spanning nearly 30 years.

She loved the ocean, music, traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her siblings, children, and grandchildren. She was passionate in her profession and loved helping others.

Maureen is survived by her husband of 38 years Steven George, their children Daniel & Meghan King of Maynard, MA, Clementine & Colin Regan of Quincy, MA, Jesse & Amy George of Scarborough, ME, and Steven & Wilaiwan George of Kingston, MA, and her six grandchildren Maddie, Lucie, Rooney, Gemma, Jack, and George.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 26th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA from 4-8 PM. Private funeral and burial services to follow.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations/contributions to Breakthrough T1D, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes that Maureen strongly advocated for on behalf of her son Steven and her grandchildren Rooney and Jack. https://diabetes.org/
