Obituary of Carolyn Ann Northon

Please share a memory of Carolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carolyn Ann Northon of Plympton, MA died peacefully at home on February 17, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 25, 1948 in Boston, MA to the late Robert and Mildred (O’Brien) Regan.

Carolyn went to school at St. Gregory’s in Dorchester, MA until her senior year, when she transferred to Milton (MA) High School where she graduated. She spent 30 years in public service in her hometown of Plympton working in various capacities, including as the town’s Treasurer Collector. She retired in 2011.

Carolyn was very proud of her two sons. Although she spent endless hours and drove countless miles to ice rinks all over Massachusetts and New England, she loved watching her boys play hockey from youth through college. During the summer and fall, she enjoyed spending time at her beachside cottage in Saquish listening to music while watching the beautiful sunsets with her husband.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Karl; her son John and his wife Christy of Surry, VA; and her son Rocky and his wife Pam of Canton, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandson Anthony, a college student in Washington DC, and cherished granddaughters Sarah and Claire, middle schoolers in Canton.

Carolyn was one of six siblings, a tight-knit group who always enjoyed gathering for holidays, graduations, weddings, baby showers and trips to Cape Cod, Vermont and New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Regan and Michael Regan and her sister MaryLou Morris and brothers-in-law Robert Morris, Paul Hogan and William Forde. She is survived by her sisters Susan Hogan of Brandon, VT and Teresa Forde, of Halifax, MA and sisters-in-law Peggy Regan of Yarmouthport, MA and Marilynne Regan of West Milford, NJ as well as dozens of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s church in Kingston, MA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Carolyn’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Visit www.stjude.org/donate.
