

Obituary of Linda S. Butler
Linda S. Butler (Smyth), 74, of Carver, formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully after many years of living with lung disease on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in her Carver home, surround by her loving family.
Born in Braintree and then moved to Brockton around the age of eleven, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Smyth and the late Mildred (Gallagher) Smyth. Linda graduated from Brockton High School in 1968 and shortly after married her late husband Brian M. Butler. After marrying, they moved Hakata, Japan where Brian was stationed with the Army. In 1980, Linda moved to Carver while trying to grow in her field of work which was Information Technology. She worked for Computer Associates for majority of her IT career. During her time with Computer Associates she was afforded the opportunity to travel seeing much of the world which she was so excited to share her stories with family and friends. Linda decided to make a career change in her 50’s to become a Real Estate agent and broker where she thrived. She thoroughly enjoyed this field and made many friends and connections through her journey with real estate.
Linda was determined not to let medical battles get in the way of living her life. She was admired for her strength and fight to live her life to the fullest. A few of the hobbies Linda’s enjoyed were knitting, coloring, having coffee with friends, traveling, charity work and gardening. She had a true passion for animals, riding motorcycles and spending time with her family. Her most treasured hobby was spending time with her grandchildren.
Linda is predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Mildred Smyth and her husband of 50 years, Brian M Butler, and her brother, Michael Smyth. She was the loving mother of Corey A. Butler and his wife Fiorella, and their children, Damon M. Butler and Matthew S. Butler of Freeport, ME., her daughter Megan D. Butler and her fiancé Jack Gillis and their children, Sienna M. Gillis and Rhylee Q. Gillis of Carver, MA. Linda is also survived by her brother Steven Smyth and wife Carol Smyth of Napa, CA, sister Robin McLaughlin and husband Timothy McLaughlin of Carver, MA, sister Kerrie Craig and husband Timothy Craig of Church Hill, TN., sister Nancy Balcom of Powhatan, VA, and by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family and friends.
Memorial visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St. (Rte. 58), Carver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to American Lung Association.
