Obituary of Janet Kusins

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We are deeply saddened to share the news that Janet Kusins passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted almost two years. Janet was born on May 22, 1953 in Manchester, CT, moved to Duxbury as a child and was a proud graduate of Duxbury High School's class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, she met her husband, Erik Kusins, of Duxbury, and they were married in 1976. Choosing to raise their family in town, Janet and Erik built a loving home together.

Janet was a beacon of love and devotion to both her family and community. Her greatest joys were found in the simple moments spent with her cherished grandchildren, the peaceful boat rides on Duxbury Bay, adventurous trips to New Hampshire, and the joy of travel alongside beloved friends and family. Janet's warm presence could always be felt as she lovingly visited members of the family. In one of her last memorable adventures in May, Janet embarked on a two-week road trip, visiting with three of her siblings; Barbara, Ed, and Larry and nephews Chris Milton and Greg Milton and their families , creating lasting memories filled with love and togetherness.

Throughout her professional career, Janet dedicated over 40 years to Rockland Trust in Duxbury. Starting as a bank teller, she worked diligently and worked her way up to Vice President and Branch Manager.  She attained an Associate’s Degree in Business from the New England Banking Institute during her career there.  Her commitment to excellence and her kindness touched the lives of many in the community.

In addition to her career, Janet was a founding member of the Duxbury Lions Club. She had a philanthropic spirit and could often be seen volunteering at various Lions Club events, including the Duxbury Food and Wine Festival, the Marshfield Fair, and the Duxbury Food Pantry. Her unwavering dedication to service and generosity left a lasting impact on those around her.

Janet is survived by her husband, Erik Kusins of Duxbury. She is also survived by her daughter, Krissy Lundquist, and her husband Broc Lundquist of Phoenix, Arizona, and her son, Erik Kusins, and his wife Amelia, along with her two grandchildren, Madeleine (14) and Michael (12), all of Duxbury, MA. Janet is also survived by her siblings: Barbara Milton of Deep River, CT; Ed French and his husband Antonio Guerrero of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Larry French and his wife Holly of Leland, NC; and Peter French and his wife Mary, of Middleborough, MA.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the wake, which will be held at Shepherd's Funeral Home in Kingston on Friday July 12 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service to honor Janet's life will take place at St. John the Evangelist in Duxbury, MA, on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 AM.
