Obituary of Dorothy Agnes Samuelson
Dorothy Agnes Samuelson
September 1, 1942 - May 11, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Agnes Samuelson of Halifax, Massachusetts, announce her passing. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at 81 years old surrounded by her family after a courageous fight against cancer.
Dottie is survived by her two children, Kathleen Harrison of Pembroke and partner Sean Carney, and James Ford of Hanson, and also by her six siblings, Andrew Samuelson and his wife Suzanne Tobin, Carol Porazzo, Mary Jones, Alice Grant, Margaret Dinnen and her husband Lee Dinnen, and Elizabeth Frazier and her husband William Frazier. She was a devoted grandmother of five: Courtney and her husband Mark Vercollone, Brian Harrison, Meghan Harrison, Colleen Ford and her partner Eric Anderson, and Jennifer Ford, along with two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Avery. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
To save the best for last, she is survived by her beloved Shih Tzu, Muffin Samuelson.
Dottie was born in Brockton with her six siblings and raised by her late mother and father, Dorothy and Andrew Samuelson. The former Ms. Brockton graduated high school and started her career working various jobs as a bookkeeper. She later went on to spend 15 years as the Secretary to the Chief at Braintree Fire Department. Although, her proudest accomplishment was always being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, better known as “Grandmama”.
It is hard to put into words the amount of love and magic Grandmama brought to her family everyday, but holidays were her specialty. From her extravagant dinnerware and decorations, to her “labors of love” that were found within her hand knitted accessories, homemade apple pies, and the famous Christmas pajamas, just to name a few.
She will be fondly remembered for her attentiveness, quick wit, and family-oriented heart. She loved beyond all faults.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 21st from 4-8 PM at the Shepherd’s Funeral Home in Kingston. A burial will take place on Wednesday, May 22nd at 11 AM at the Center Cemetery on Oldham Street in Pembroke. For anyone interested, there will be a procession to the cemetery beginning at 10 AM from Shepherd’s Funeral Home in Kingston.
In Loving Memory
