Michael Richard McLaughlin, of Middleborough, formerly of Duxbury, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on May 2, 2024.

Beloved husband of Kathleen (FitzPatrick) McLaughlin and loving father of Marcie Trefny and husband Tom of Bourne, and Michael McLaughlin and wife Julianne of Porter, ME.  He was the devoted grandfather of five; Jessica and Stephanie Andersen, and Ceara, William, and John McLaughlin.  He was the son of the late George McLaughlin and Sadie (Jennings) McLaughlin.  He was a graduate of Duxbury High School and Dean College in Franklin, MA.

He began his career at Rockland Trust where he met and married Kathleen in 1966 and would spend 30 years rising to Vice President.  He then moved on to Mayflower Cooperative Bank leading Commercial Loan Operations.  Mike and Kathie moved to the Oak Point Community in Middleborough in 2004.  He semi-retired in 2007, joining Enterprise Rent A Car driving cars throughout the North East.  Mike had many interests including cars, developed from time spent at his family’s Chevrolet dealership in Whitman.  His true passion was visiting and maintaining the McLaughlin family cottage on Duxbury Beach.  His dedication to his family included weekends spent on Duxbury Beach, road trips throughout New England, and time spent with his grandchildren.  He will be fondly remembered for his humor, settled manner, and kindness.
