Obituary of Glenn (Nick) Listernick
Glenn “Nick” Listernick of Duxbury, MA (formerly of Lynnfield and Wakefield) passed away suddenly on June 11, 2023 at the age of 66.
Glenn was born on November 29, 1956 in Fort Knox, KY in a US Army Hospital at a military base camp to Dr. Stanley Listernick, DMD and Roselyn (Ratcliff) Listernick. Glenn was the caring older brother to Debra Listernick of Maynard, MA and Julie (Listernick) Estrada of North Andover, MA. Glenn grew up in Lynnfield, MA. He enjoyed playing the drums, listening to his extensive record collection, and spending summers at Camp Takodah.
Glenn was a graduate of Boston University, School of Education, in 1978 and received his Master’s Degree in School Administration from Salem State University in 1989. He was a proud educator for over 40 years. Glenn worked as a history teacher, high school administrator, and coach. Teaching was his passion, and he put his heart and soul into the classroom. He made a lasting impact on his students and made a difference in their lives. Glenn was voted Coach of the Year twice for Track and Field.
Glenn loved Boston sports, watching movies and television, traveling to Cape Cod and the White Mountains in NH, and spending time with his family. He was passionate about history and politics, and enjoyed reading books, watching documentaries, and sharing history facts with others. He also loved rock music and college football, especially University of Michigan. Go Blue!
Glenn was a devoted husband of 37 years to his wife Denise (Wash) Listernick and proud father to Caroline (30) and Christina (26) of Duxbury, MA. From dance recitals to swim meets to school plays to family dinners, Glenn was always there for his family. Glenn was kind, go with the flow, and selfless. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Church in Duxbury, MA on Thursday, June 22 at 11 am. Following the funeral, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Island Creek Oysters Raw Bar (403 Washington Street in Duxbury, MA) with light refreshments and to share stories about Glenn’s life.
