Marjorie C. (Thatcher) Sears, age 99 of Carver, MA passed away on May 7, 2023 after a period of declining health.

She was the wife of Forrest W, Sears who passed away in April, 1995. She was born on December 19, 1923 in Taunton, MA to the late Harry and Elsie (Round) Thatcher. Marjorie grew up in Hopedale, MA and was a former resident of Mendon, MA. She resided in Carver for 40 years.

After graduating from Hopedale High School, Class of 1942, she attended Burdett College, Boston. Marjorie joined the US Navy as a WAVE and served in the Bureau of Ships in Washington, DC as a Storekeeper Third Class 1944-1946.

Marjorie loved her family and enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and counted cross stitch. She was a member of the church of the Pilgrimage, Plymouth. She was a Life Member of WAVES National and the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation.

Marjorie is survived by her loving children David Sears and his wife Karen of Plymouth, and Carolyn Marcotte of Milford. Grandchildren Donna Sears of Winthrop and Brian Sears and his wife Leslie of Dalton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Bill Thatcher, Joan Drisko and Joyce Hoberg.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 16th at 11:00 AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie's name may be made to: Church of the Pilgrimage Building Fund, 8 Town Square, Plymouth or the American Cancer Society.
