Bennie P. Sims, 98, passed away on November 5, 2018 at Our Lady’s Haven. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Wanda Sims. He is survived by his son Paul Sims. Bennie is also survived by his sister Helen Fleming and her late husband Harry. Bennie was pre-deceased by his brothers, Walter Sims and wife Aldona, Stanley Skistimas, John Skistimas and his wife Mary. He was also pre-deceased by his sister, Mary Romans and her husband Lee. Bennie is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bennie was born in 1920 in Cambridge MA, to his parents, the late Peter and Frances Skistimas. 
Bennie was a Staff Sargent in the U.S  Army during WWII. He graduated from the Rindge Tech High School. He worked as a director of building and grounds at the Blue Hills School. Bernie was a dedicated father who took wonderful care of his disabled son Paul, now under the loving care of Dennis and Rita Morani and family. He enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer, watching westerns on TV, traveling in his Airstream across America, fishing, walking, playing the accordion, quilting, woodworking, painting, gardening, cooking and he also built several houses. 
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Carver on Tuesday, November 13, at 10:30AM. Interment will directly follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30PM. For online floral arrangements and  condolences please visit www.shepherdfuneralhome.com
