Robert E. “Bud” Smith, 80, of Carver, died Sept. 19 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Fernald) Smith. Born on June 23, 1928, and raised and educated in Stoughton, he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. For many years he was employed by the George E. Belcher Last Co. and Stride Rite Mfg. Co. of Boston. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons; John Smith and his wife Ann and Rick Smith and his wife Denise, all of Lakeville; his four loving grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Samantha, and Parker; his sisters; Barbara Carlson and her husband Arthur and Joan DiMatteo and her husband Robert, all of Stoughton. He also leaves many other family members and friends. Visiting hours from the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Rt. 58, Carver on Mon. Sept.22, 4-8PM.
