Virginia M. (Traverse) Miller, died July 7 at Wingate @ Silver Lake in Kingston. Born in Dorchester on March 20, 1924, she was the daughter of Hugh and Della (Bouzan) Traverse. She was the wife of the late Carl “Red” Miller, Jr. She was a graduate of Rosary Academy in Watertown. She had worked as an LPN at Plymouth County Hospital in Hanson, the Goddard Hospital in Stoughton and several area nursing homes. She was a retired dispatcher for the town of Halifax police and fire departments. She was also a volunteer with the Council on Aging in Halifax. She loved to travel and had traveled throughout the United States and abroad. She is survived by her children; Della Lee Copeland of Halifax, Carl V. Miller, III of NH, Kevin Miller of Halifax, Joy Firth of Hanson, Adra Knowlton of NH; eleven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers; Kenneth Traverse of Pembroke, Dick Traverse of CA, and George Traverse of TX. A funeral service will be held on Fri. July 11 at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St., Pembroke Center at 10:00AM. Interment in Central Cemetery, Halifax. Visiting hours on Thurs. from 4-8PM. Memorial donations may be made to West River Hospice, 63 Kendrick St., Needham, MA 02494.
