Harry E. Monks, Jr, of Kingston, and formerly of Hanover, died peacefully on December 8, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Mary (Bent) Monks. Predeceased by his first wife Pasqualina (Cammarata) Monks. Loving father of Maria Monks Serrao and her husband Argenis of Melrose, Theresa and her husband Mark Pisano of Plymouth, Lisa A. Monks of Wakefield, and his step children, Michael A. Bent of Rockland, Stephen F. Bent of Duxbury, David A. Bent of Kingston, and Ann Marie Bent of Kingston. Son of the late Harry E. Monks Sr and Rose A. (Murphy) Monks. Brother of Catherine Trudeau of Plymouth, Anna-May Vannasse of Waltham, the late Geraldine DiLorenzo, and the late Shirley Newfell. Cherished grandfather of Kaitlin Pisano, Alyssa Pisano, Mark Pisano, Kristiana Serrao, Alexander Serrao, and Jocelyn Massey, as well as two great grandchildren. Harry is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Harry is a Korean war veteran, as well as former Grand Knight and District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus. He is a member of the American Legion, and served on the Democratic town committee, as well as the Plymouth County Democratic League. Serving in the town of Hanover, Harry was also a former firefighter, and EMT. Mr. Monks family would like to share a celebration of his life on Wednesday, December 12th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 13th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph church, Kingston. Interment will be held at the Center cemetery in Hanover. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Jordan Hospital Cancer Center, 275 Sandwich St, Plymouth, MA 02360.
