Dana Lester Smith, 49, of Kingston, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2017. Dana is survived by his ex wife Denise (Tourtillott) Smith, daughter Danielle (Smith) Ahmed and her husband Jay Ahmed, and sons Cody and Austin Smith. He is the son of the late John and Lois (McKeon) Smith. Beloved brother to Deborah (Smith) Giallongo, Mark Whittemore, Lois (Whittemore) Cushing, Jim Whittemore, Jay Smith, and Laurie Smith. Dana is also survived by his uncle and aunt, Bill and Jill Smith, his cousins Kim Stewart and Eric Smith, many nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family and friends. Dana grew up in Scituate and raised his family in Kingston for 20 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as skiing, fishing, boating, and riding his dirt bike, quad, and motorcycle. Dana’s greatest love was for his children. He was proud to be a father and they brought him joy from the moment they were born. He had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and make others laugh, and was an enthusiastic story teller. Dana will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 18th from 1-4:00 PM with a memorial service set to begin at 4:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Austin Smith Scholarship Fund, Santander Bank at 157 Summer St, Kingston, MA 02364.
